Hairspray

Book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, Music and Lyrics by Marc Shaiman, Lyrics by Scott Wittman
Directed by Christy McIntosh, Musical Direction by Stephanie Gaumer, Choreography by Julia Maggiola

 October 21 - Nov 6, 2011

Nominated for 12 and winner of 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. This big fat hit kicks off our main stage 2011/12 season. Hairspray is as inspiring as it is just plain fun! Full of bouncy songs that will make both children of the 1960s and those born too late wish they could go back in time!

Jump back to 1960s Baltimore, where pleasantly plump Tracy Turnblad has big hair, an even bigger heart, and a huge dream to be a dancer on the Corny Collins Show. The story manages to be a riotous comedy that delivers an important message at the same time.

"Hairspray is a breathless, unstoppable surge of energy!" --Chicago Sun-Times
